This optical engineering is important not only to quantum computing but also for application of nanostructured diamonds at construction of nano-photonic biosensors. The charge transfer properties that occur at luminescent NV center/defect and lead either neutral or negatively charged NV stages (NV0 or NV-) and controllably switching between these stages by a surface chemical engineering is discussed are discussed within this context.
