The PCVN specimens and the standard 1T SENB specimens have been used to establish the fracture toughness values in the ductile-to-brittle transition regime. Based on the experimental results obtained the following problems have been addressed: suggestion and verification of transferability approach for transferring the fracture toughness data from the small PCVN specimens to the 1T standard ones; the determination of the reference temperature T0 based on the transformed PCVN fracture toughness data; the construction of MC and fracture probability tolerance bounds utilising the average reference temperature T0 from the transformed PCVN data; the comparison of the toughness KJc values measured with the standard 1T SENB specimens with the toughness values predicted using small PCVN specimens.
