The article analyses the role of international courts in the present world and their impact on international relations. It points out factors determining whether and to which extent international courts become involved in international dispute settlement, and at the same time it pays attention to the question if and how international courts are really used to settle international disputes. It arrives at the conclusion that judicialization of international relations has been taking place; however, viewed in a global context, its extent cannot be compared to that of the present Europe.
