V současné době se hloubka dobývání v obtížných hornickogeologických podmínkách ostravsko-karvinského revíru pohybuje kolem 1000 m pod povrchem. Nové dobývací komplexy vyžadují větší manipulační a provozní prostor v oblasti styku porubní fronty a přilehlých porubních chodeb, zejména pak na těžních třídách porubů. S tím souvisí i zvyšující se požadavky na minimalizaci konvergenčních projevů horninového masivu zejména při používání vysoce kapacitních stěnových porubů. Proto je zvyšování stability porubních chodeb a chodeb vedených v jejich blízkém okolí jednou z bezpečnostních priorit v současném hlubinném hornictví. Minimalizace deformačních, resp. tlakových projevů horninového masivu je řešena především zaváděním podpůrných opatření a účinných prostředků do procesu vyztužování důlních chodeb a následného dobývání uhelných slojí.
Nowadays, the depth of coal extraction in the difficult mininggeological conditions of the Ostrava-Karviná coal mining district (the OKD) is in the region of 1000 m under the surface. New mining complexes require larger handling and operating space in the area of the contact between the coal face with adjacent headings, first of all in tramming drifts. This is even connected in with requirements for the minimisation of rock mass convergence manifestations, first of all when high-capacity longwall faces are used. For that reason the increasing of the stability of headings and galleries running in their close vicinity is one of safety priorities for the current coal mining industry. The minimisation of rock mass manifestations of deformations or rock mass pressure is solved first of all by introducing support measures and effective means into the process of supporting the excavated drifts and subsequent working on the seams.
