The study deals with the phenomenon of mass gymnastic displays under communism focusing especially on the issue of continuity with the pre-existing tradition of Sokol displays pointing out the long term trends at the Czechoslovak physical education. The book also deals with the symbolism of mass gymnastic performances as well as their logistics and attitude of the broader public.
