This review summarized the evidence for mechanisms which are likely to have an impact duringy foetal and neonatal life on the responsiveness of mucosal T cells in the intestine of the adult. It is concluded that commensal microflora has the major impact on mucosal T cell development, but there are also influences from food antigens
