Autoři se v rámci své kapitoly zabývají především problematikou adaptace lidských sídel na klimatickou změnu, s tím souvisejícími negativními dopady a jakým způsobem na tyto jevy reaguje právo. Kapitola obsahuje zejména přehled mezinárodního soft law a spolupráce měst ohledně jejich adaptace, dále se také věnuje evropské právní úpravě (strategickým dokumentům v této oblasti a sekundárnímu právu v podobě směrnice o energetické náročnosti budov) a české právní úpravě. V rámci českého práva se autoři zaměřují na reflexy změny klimatu v územním plánování a na konflikty adaptačních opatření se zájmy památkové péče.

In their chapter, the authors mainly deal with the issue of adaptation of human settlements to climate change, to the related negative impacts and how the law reacts to these phenomena. The chapter mainly contains an overview of international soft law and the cooperation of cities regarding their adaptation, and also deals with European legislation (with strategic documents in this area and secondary law in the form of the directive on the energy performance of buildings) and Czech legislation. Within the framework of Czech law, the authors focus on the reflexes of climate change in spatial planning and on the conflicts of adaptation measures with the interests of heritage preservation.
