Článek nejprve stručně představuje podíl klasických jazyků v gymnaziální výuce, popisuje její charakter a podobu antického kánonu v povinné školní četbě. Ve druhé části se věnuje dobové reflexi gymnaziální výuky latiny a řečtiny v textech pamětníků a recepci školské antiky v básnických, prozaických, operetních a dramatických parodiích, počínaje komickým eposem Lidiada, přes parodistické operety a kabaretní aktovku Oresteia, až ke komediím Voskovce a Wericha a povídky Jaroslava Haška.

The article first briefly presents the contribution of classic languages to gymnasium instruction, describing its character and appearance in the classical canon in mandatory school reading. The second part is dedicated to the period responses of gymnasium teaching of Latin and Greek in the texts of witnesses and the reception of the scholastic classics in poetic, prosaic, opera and dramatic parodies, starting with the comic epic Lidiada, to the parodic operetta and cabaret one-act Oresteia, to the comedies of Voskovec and Werich and the stories of Jaroslav Hašek.
