Sedmý svazek edice Korespondence Jakuba Demla Poznávám krásu Vašich krajin obsahuje soubor vzájemných listů mezi dvěma významnými českými básníky: Jakubem Demlem (1878–1961) a Otokarem Březinou (1868–1929). Soubor zachycuje bez výraznějších přestávek období let 1899 až 1928 a řadí se v Demlově epistolografii mezi nejrozsáhlejší. Většinu těchto dopisů vydal již sám Deml, Březinovu část dopisů obsahuje také Korespondence Otokara Březiny (2004) připravená Petrem Holmanem. Přítomný svazek přináší navíc několik nově nalezených dopisů, především ale předkládá čtenářům tuto korespondenci poprvé jako vzájemnou, v dialogické podobě. Tento svazek je rozdělen do dvou knih: první obsahuje samotné dopisy (doplněné s ohledem na srozumitelnost pouze poznámkami pod čarou pro překlad cizojazyčných pasáží nebo identifikaci jmen a seznamem použitých zkratek). Druhá kniha přináší kromě obsáhlého edičního aparátu další související texty. Otiskujeme zde faksimile či alespoň textové přepisy vzájemných rukopisných dedikací v Březinových a Demlových knihách; dále zařazujeme Demlův rukopisný deník K Březinovi z let 1901 až 1903, jenž mimo jiné přibližuje úplný počátek jejich přátelství, který není v dochované korespondenci zachycen. Druhá kniha obsahuje rovněž literárněhistorický komentář, obsáhlé vysvětlivky, jmenný rejstřík, jenž uvádí základní biografické údaje o zmiňovaných osobách, ediční poznámku, podrobný soupis dopisů i dostupných variant a přetisků a výběr z použité literatury. Knihu doplňují dobové fotografie náměšťského fotografa a Demlova přítele Ondřeje Knolla (1883–1960) ze sbírek Muzea Vysočiny Třebíč.


The seventh volume of The Correspondence of Jakub Deml edition, entitled I See the Beauty of Your Lands, presents a collection of correspondence between two eminent Czech poets, Jakub Deml (1878–1961) and Otokar Březina (1868–1929). The correspondence covers the period from 1899 to 1928 without significant gaps and belongs among the most extensive in Deml’s epistolary practice. Most of the texts were published by Deml himself, Březina’s part is further included the Correspondence of Otokar Březina (2004) edited by Petr Holman. The current edition adds several newly-found letters to the collection but, more than this and for the very first time, it represents the entire correspondence as a mutual undertaking and a dialogue. The new edition is published as a two-volume set. The first volume consists of the letters themselves (for ease of comprehension, these are accompanied by footnotes containing translations of foreign language passages, identifications of people named and a list of abbreviations used). The second volume then contains an extensive editorial apparatus as well as other related textual and pictorial material. Here we reprint the facsimile or give transcriptions of mutual handwritten dedications in Březina’s as well as Deml’s books and the transcription of Deml’s manuscript journal To Březina from 1901–1903 which (among other things) describes the very beginnings of their friendship not captured by the extant correspondence. The second volume further contains a literary-historical commentary, extensive explanatory notes, a name index with basic biographical information, an editorial note, a detailed list of all the letters and their extant variants and reprints and, finally, a selection of the literature used. The texts in this volume are accompanied by period photographs taken by the Náměšť photographer and Deml’s colleague Ondřej Knoll (1883–1960), now in the collections of the Vysočina Museum in Třebíč.
