The article contributes to the 60th anniversary of the foundation of the Institute of Atmospheric Physics, Czech Academy of Sciences. Its current director briefly summarizes the history of the Institute, its scientific topics, and history and present of its engagement in international cooperation. Also recalled are previous Institute’s directors and other remarkable persons who worked and are working in the Institute. The article is closed by a short contemplation on the plans and objectives of the Institute in the present and near future.
