Záměrem kolektivu autorů projektu bylo publikovat pozůstalost Františka Kalivody, příslušníka avantgardy a průkopníka abstrakce, a kriticky zhodnotit jeho multimediální tvorbu. Kalivoda zkoumal teoreticky i prakticky vizuální stránku obrazu a světla, přičemž výrazně ovlivnil moderní typografii propagací díla a myšlenek typografa Jana Tschicholda. Spolupracoval s maďarským avantgardním umělcem László Moholy-Nagyem, kterého přitahovaly možnosti abstrakce a nové technologie ve filmu. Kromě těchto projektů si uvědomoval informační sílu sociální fotografie a byl také zapojen do CIAM a CIAM-Ost. Výsledkem je česko-anglická mezioborová publikace o životě a díle Františka Kalivody.

The intention of the collective of authors of the project was to publish the legacy of František Kalivoda, a member of the avant-garde and pioneer in abstraction, and also to critically assess his multimedia work. In theoretical and practical terms, Kalivoda examined thevisual side of the image and light, while he greatly influenced modern typography by promoting the work and ideas of the typographer, Jan Tschichold. He worked with the Hungarian avant-garde artist László Moholy-Nagy, drawn by the possibilities of abstraction and new technology in film. In addition to these projects he was aware of the informative power of social photography and he was also involved with CIAM and CIAM-Ost. The result is a Czech-English interdisciplinary publication on the life and work of František Kalivoda.
