This paper is a review of the book Politika lesa by Michal Hořejší. In the first part, it begins with summarizing the book’s contents and continues with reviewing its strengths and weaknesses. In the second part, it takes the opportunity to elaborate a few remarks about particular aspects of the book from a broader perspective and with more general scope. Attention is drawn to the possibilities and limits of case studies and their generalization in critical discourse analysis, to the practice of proposing and testing hypotheses, to pilot analyses and the research design in general, and to the requirement towards transparency of analysis. The paper concludes with considering of the book’s position in the Czech context.
