Fiber laser power has increased significantly over the past two decades, reaching hundreds of kilowatts. However, the limited thermal stability or high phonon energy of conventional glass materials limits the maximum generated power and the working spectral range of the lasers. Transparent ceramic materials represent a promising alternative to the conventional glass. In this contribution we demonstrate laser-assisted processing of highly transparent nanocrystalline (Ho0.05Y0.95)2Ti2O7 films and microstructure emitting in short- and mid-infrared. The films were prepared by a sol-gel method followed by a radiation thermal treatment. To promote the crystallization, the densified films were irradiated by a continuous CO2 laser. The refractive index of the nanocrystalline film was 2.18. The nanocrystalline film exhibited a strong luminescence at 2000 nm and a minor emission at 2900 nm. A micrometric pattern was prepared by a direct laser writing followed by a wet chemical etching. The elaborated approach can be used to prepare transparent luminescence films with tailored optical properties and together with direct laser writing can be used to prepare integrated optical components. Increasing the dimensions of the prepared structures followed by the delamination out of the substrate can be used to prepare transparent ceramic optical fibers
