Thought experiments are effective tools of theoretical physics, which led to the discovery of many useful ideas and relations, yet they also give rise to many paradoxes. A problem investigated exclusively by means of thought experiments, is, e.g., the problem of hidden momentum, concerning the conversion of the electromagnetic momentum into a momentum of non-electromagnetic nature. In this paper it is shown that also the real, experimentally well-established ordinary Hall effect, is sufficiently sensitive for to contribute to the solution of this persisting problem.
