Justin Mučedník je považován za jednoho z nejvýznamnějších křesťanských apologetů 2. století po Kr. – autorů, kteří zasazovali o apologii neboli o obranu křesťanské viry zejména proti polemikám a útokům ze strany pohanů. Je též významným svědkem recepce Bible kolem poloviny 2. století: jeho Dialog se Židem Tryfónem obsahuje více než tři sta citaci z hebrejské Bible ve zněni Septuaginty. Kromě toho u něj pod názvem „vzpomínky apoštolů“ najdeme řadu odkazů na Ježíšovy výroky a narativní látky z evangelii.

Justin Martyr is considered one of the most important Christian apologists of the 2nd century A.D. - authors who sought to apologize or defend the Christian faith, especially against polemics and attacks from pagans. He is also an important witness to the reception of the Bible around the middle of the 2nd century: his Dialogue with Trypho the Jew contains more than three hundred quotations from the Hebrew Bible in the Septuagint version. In addition, under the title “Memoirs of the Apostles” we find many references to sayings of Jesus and narrative material from the Gospels.
