Studie sleduje na základě písemných pramenů poslední léta života slezského knížete Jana z Osvětici a Hlivic, manžela přemyslovny Barbory. Zvláštní role Barbořina manžela, Jana, dosud nebyla v odborné literatuře podrobněji řešena. Studie proto analyzuje specifickou historicko-právní situaci, kdy Barbora byla jedinou ženou z rodu Přemyslovců, která legitimně vládla jednomu z pozdně středověkých vévodství v rámci zemí Koruny české.

Based on written sources, the study traces the last years of the life of the Silesian Prince John IV of Oświęcim and Gliwice, the husband of Barbora of the Přemyslid dynasty. The special role of Barbora's husband, John, has not yet been addressed in more detail in the professional literature. The study therefore analyzes a specific historical-legal situation, when Barbora was the only woman from the Přemyslid dynasty who legitimately ruled one of the late medieval duchies within the lands of the Czech Crown.
