Kniha představuje výbor k korespondence Ivana Diviše (1924-1999) a Rio Preisnera (1925-2007). Dopisy pokrývají období let 1969-1988 a jsou pohledem dvou významných emigrantů na dobu normalizace v Československu, na exil, na evropskou a americkou politiku. Vzhledem k tomu, že dílo básníka Ivana Diviše, žijícího v mnichovském exilu, jakož i vědecké studie a básně Rio Preisnera, profesora germanistiky v Pensylvánii, jsou již zpřístupněny českému čtenáři, jedná se o jeden z posledních pramenů k poznání těchto dvou významných osobností našeho intelektuálního života 2. poloviny 20. století. Originál korespondence je uchován v Bruselském literárních archivu s literární pozůstalostí Ivana Diviše a k vydání ji připravil J. Rubeš.

The book presents a selection of the correspondence of Ivan Diviš (1924-1999) and Rio Preisner (1925-2007). The letters cover the period 1969-1988 and provide the views of two important emigrants on the period of normalization in Czechoslovakia, on exile, and on European and American politics. Since the works of the poet Ivan Diviš, who lived in exile in Munich, as well as the academic studies and poems of Rio Preisner, a professor of German studies in Pennsylvania, are now available to Czech readers, this is one of the last sources for understanding these two important figures of our intellectual life in the second half of the 20th century. The original correspondence is preserved in Brussels, in the Archives and Museum of Literature, within the literary estate of Ivan Diviš. The volume has been edited by Jan Rubeš.
