The workshop adressed the ambivalent and dynamic relations between communist ideology and nationalism in communist federations and multinational socialist dictatorships. The main point of interest is how different national communisms competed or coexisted with each other and with state-supported, supranational concepts like Czechoslovak and Soviet patriotism or Yugoslavism.
