Kapitola představuje a analyzuje hlavní výzkumná zaměření a akademická pojetí české politologie, k jejichž realizaci docházelo na počátku 20. století v prostředí Ústavu politologie Filozofické fakulty Univerzity Karlovy v Praze. Na základě osobních zkušeností v kombinaci s analytickými nástroji týkajícími se filozofie vědy a multiparadigmatického charakteru politologie autor zkoumá hlavní vědecké přístupy z oblasti dějin idejí, jež byly v dané době na ústavu vyučovány a vědecky praktikovány, a jež ovlivnily nejen jeho osobní akademickou specializaci, ale i český kontext politologie obecně. Kapitola tedy analyzuje především dvě důležité dimenze týkající se teoretického rámce a metodologických konceptualizací politické vědy: 1) koncept republikanismu s osobitou interpretací svobody a 2) diskurzivní analýzu založenou na akceptaci jazykového obratu ve společenských a humanitních vědách.

This chapter presents and analyses the main research focus and academic concept of Czech political science practised at the beginning of the 20th century in the milieu of the Department of Political Science at the Faculty of Arts of Charles University in Prague. Based on the personal experience combined with analytical tools regarding the philosophy of science and multi-paradigmatic character of the political science, the author examines the main scientific approaches concerning the field of history of ideas that were taught and conducted at that time in the Department and that affected not only his academic specialization, but the Czech context of political science in general. Hence, the chapter analyses mainly two important dimensions regarding the theoretical framing and methodological conceptualizations of political science: 1) concept of republicanism with a specific interpretation of liberty and 2) discourse analysis based on the acceptance of language turn in social sciences and humanities.
