On the northwestern edge of the Strážovské vrchy Mts. (Slovakia), three sections were studied for biostratigraphy and microfacies. The biostratigraphic analysis focused especially on planktonic foraminifers and calcareous nannofossils indicating late Aptian age of the sediment. Benthic foraminiferes and fragments of thick-walled bivalves and echinoderms are also present.
