The plenary lecture summarized the most recent trends and applications, and future perspectives of the autonomous analyses of dried blood spots by capillary electrophoresis (CE). It highlighted the potential of commercial CE instruments for transformation of DBSs from a dry to a liquid sample, efficient pretreatment, injection, separation and quantification, which can be done in a fully autonomous fashion and with no modifications of CE instruments.
