The results of research on glazes, colouring components and ceramic bodies of ten glazed tiles or their fragments are presented in this paper. The large-format ceramic tiles were excavated during archaeological research in the Schwarzenberg Palace (Prague, Czech Republic) and are dated to the second third of the 16th century. The other types of stove tiles are dated to a later period and are archaeological finds mainly from the Salm Palace. The main aim of the study was to determine the type of surface treatment (glazes, engobe, and secondary paintings) and the colourants in coloured layers and glazes. The investigation was carried out using a combination of different instrumental techniques (X-ray methods, Raman spectroscopy, spectrophotometry, optical microscopy and elemental SEM-EDS analysis).
