Tagetes patula intercropping with carrot and cauliflower was investigated for pest control and carotenoid production. The monocropped vegetables uncovered and covered with nonwoven fleece served as controls. The yield of T. patula flowers and carotenoids was not affected by the intercropping. The intercropping significantly reduced the frequency of forked carrots and increased cauliflower yield. Land equivalent ratio and estimated revenues indicated that cauliflowerþT. patula treatment offers higher profit compared to the uncovered monocropped control. Fleece cover increased cauliflower yield and reduced leaf damage caused by flea beetles and cabbage aphids incidence. A similar trend was observed for T. patula treatment.
