    The author of the monograph proposes to change the approach to the analysis of artistic texts, which are considered the result of the interaction of various types of art. She analyzes literary and musical texts and their connotations, which form ekphrasis. The purpose of the book is to distinguish between two types of phenomena: as an artistic technique and as an element of a genre.
    Based on the works of European and American writers (P. Høeg, J. Fowles, Y. Izdryk, T. Morrison, J. Saramago, P. Susskind), an analysis of the cultural code was carried out, with the help of which the authors create a ″presence effect″ for the reader.
    The book gives examples of the difference between ekphrasis and other descriptive rhetorical figures. According to the author, the main criterion for identifying ekphrasis, which transcends the usual intermediate field and turns it into a tool of intertextuality, is the creation and use of a cultural code and the principle of recoding meanings.
