Politická korektnost představuje kontroverzní jev, který se i v českém prostředí stává předmětem vyhrocených debat o politice, společnosti, kultuře i umění. Tato publikace si klade za cíl prozkoumat reakci českého literárního pole na požadavky spojené právě s politickou korektností. Korektnost přitom nechápeme jako výhradně restriktivní jev, ale jako nesmírně komplexní a produktivní sociální fenomén, který utváří poetiku „nekorektních“ literárních textů a vyvolává debaty o smyslu a povaze české polistopadové literatury. Studie, které tvoří jádro knihy, se vedle oblasti vysoké literatury či tvorby pro děti a mládež nevyhýbají ani populární literatuře, například akční fantastice či tvorbě Vlastimila Vondrušky.

This publication examines the reactions in the Czech literary field to the demands brought on by political correctness. We did not perceive correctness here as a primarily restrictive practice but, rather more generally, as a set of social and cultural norms that gradually spread from the American academic environment in the last third of the twentieth century through the process of cultural transfer. In order to be able to meaningfully analyse the poetics of artistic texts, to reflect on the position of authors and critics in the literary field and to evaluate heated literary debates, we have positioned our research at the intersection of the exploration of literary poetics, the sociology of literature and discourse analysis. Such a multidisciplinary approach allowed us to draw on a wide range of source material: from novels, spelling books, poetry collections and literary criticism to ministerial decrees, advertising pretexts and fan reviews on the internet. Considerable openness also applies to the literary areas we have focused on. in addition to “high” literature, there are chapters dedicated to works for children and youth, crime and fantasy literature and historical detective stories.
