Collected data on the speciation of arsenic each month during the spring productivity period in the waters of a deep, oligo-mesotrophic, arsenic unpolluted lake that never becomes anoxicshow that the production and presence of reduced and methylated As species are mainly biota related. In addition, the availability of 25 years of monthly data on arsenic concentrations in this lake allows us to contextualize our findings and provides additional insight into the behaviour of arsenic.
