The book of the team of authors deals with the basic structures of state and law in the initial years of the Czechoslovak Republic 1918–1925. The book covers the topics from the field of decision-making, participation and freedom of expression, state administration of self-government. It included the chapters devoted to the judiciary the courts reform attempts, to the reform of regional division, chapters on new legislative efforts, including the interim constitution and unification of law, and finally chapters on the position of Germans, on Slovakia and Subcarpathian Ruthenia, accompanied by a chapter on the emergence of the newly-build army and police forces. The twenty-two chapters of the book provide a guide through the political, legal and social issues of the era one hundred years ago.
