Kniha představuje vybrané krajinomalby a krajinářské fotografie Moravy a přilehlé části Čech, které srovnává se současnou krajinou. Prostřednictvím obrazových srovnání a textových komentářů jsou dokumentovány změny krajiny a jejího využívání. Tyto změny měly vliv mimo jiné na úbytek řady druhů rostlin, jejichž výskyt byl do značné míry průvodním jevem tradičního hospodaření. Kniha se tak snaží čtenáři přiblížit možnosti využití krajinomalby pro studium a dokumentaci změn krajiny a přírody.

The book presents selected landscape paintings and landscape photographs of Moravia and adjacent parts of Bohemia, which it compares with the contemporary landscape. Changes to the landscape and its use are documented through image comparisons and textual comments. These changes had an effect, among other things, on the decline of a number of plant species, the occurrence of which was largely a concomitant phenomenon of traditional farming. The book thus tries to bring the reader closer to the possibility of using landscape painting for the study and documentation of changes in the landscape and nature.
