Kapitola se věnuje tomu, jak krize bydlení ovlivňuje schopnost mladých dospělých představit si a plánovat vlastní budoucnost na průsečíku bydlení s dalšími klíčovými tématy každodenního života jako práce, rodina a volný čas. Text dále ukazuje, že skupina mladých dospělých je silně různorodá – navíc neodpovídá obecně sdílené a ze západu přejímané představě o 'mileniálech' – a že hlavní dělicí linie mezi mladými lidmi kopíruje linii společenských nerovností, stále více formovaných na základě politik škrtů, financializace bydlení, kdy se z bydlení stává nástroj na utváření zisku, a nikoli prostor k bydlení, a rostoucí prekarizace, tj. nejistota ve vztahu k práci a s ní se měnící formy zaměstnanosti. Na základě rozhovorů s mladými lidmi kapitola představuje čtyři příklady konkrétních životních příběhů a drah bydlení mladých dospělých a ukazuje, že rozsah dopadů krize bydlení je mezi mladými lidmi rozdělen a pociťován nerovnoměrně, právě s ohledem na další osy znevýhodnění a společenské nerovnosti.

The chapter focuses on the effects of housing crisis on the ability of young adults to imagine and plan their own future at the intersection of housing with other key topics of everyday life such as work, family and leisure. The text further shows the group of young adults as highly diverse - moreover, it does not correspond with the adopted image of 'millenials' from the West - and that the main dividing line between young adults follow the lines of social inequalities, increasingly formed on the basis of austerity policies, the financialization of housing (housing becomes a tool for generating profit, and not a place to live), and increasing precarization (i.e. insecurity in relation to work and, with it, changing forms of employment). Based on semi-structured interviews with young people, the chapter presents four examples of specific life stories and housing paths of young adults and shows that the extent of the impacts of the housing crisis is distributed and felt unevenly among young people, precisely with regard to other axes of disadvantage and social inequality.
