Cílem předložené studie je pojednat o kořenech a tradicích českého (československého) pohledu na dějiny slavistiky jako na specifickou disciplínu významnou jak pro její sebereflexi, tak poznávání místa, úlohy a konkrétních kroků nezbytných pro definování kulturně civilizačního profilu národního etnika. Studie upozorňuje na některé širší souvislosti vývoje a proměn pojetí slavistiky a organizace její práce, které byly relevantní pro syntetické zpracování dějin československé slavistiky, které vyvrcholily v období mezi 70. a 90. léty 20. století. Práce má analytický charakter, čerpá z pramenů a primární literatury, i když neponechává stranou ani literaturu sekundární.

The objective of the submitted study is to discuss the roots and traditions of the Czech (Czechoslovak) perspective on the history of Slavic Studies as a specific discipline important both for self-reflection and also for recognising the places, roles and specific steps essential to defining the cultural and civilizational profile of the national ethnicity. The study notes some wider development contexts and changes in the concept of Slavic Studies and the organisation of its work, which were relevant for the synthetic processing of the history of Czechoslovak Slavic studies, which reached a peak in the period between the 1970s and 1990s. The study is analytical in nature, and uses primary sources and books, although it also utilises secondary literature.
