Představeny jsou Patočkovy úvahy o vztahu jazyka a filosofie s oporou zejména v jeho raných textech. Klíčové otázky jsou zaměřeny na podmíněnost jazyka a myšlení, vztah mezi konkrétním jazykovým sdělením a jeho chápáním či krajní polohou jazyka a filosofie. Dále je diskutována problematika filozofického překladu s důrazem na Patočkův pohled na postup překladu a vlastní nedostatečnost jakéhokoli překladu. To je chápáno jako výraz snahy porozumět filozofickému textu, který vždy obnáší spoluvytváření a znovu vytváření významu viděného v originále.

Patočka’s reflections on the relationship between language and philosophy are presented, with support especially in his early texts. Key issues are focused on conditioning of language and thought, the relationship between a particular linguistic message and its understanding or extremity of the language and philosophy. Furthermore, the problem of philosophical translation is discussed, with attention to Patočka’s view of the procedure of translation and the inherent inadequacy of any translation. This is understood as an expression of an attempt to understand the philosophical text, which always entails the co-creation and re-creation of the meaning seen in the original.
