V úvodní části kapitoly se Kryštof Boháček hlásí k textové evidenci jako metodologickému pilíři platónské interpretace. Ve druhé části jsou představeny problémy, spojené s kontextuálním určením dialogu Kritón: máme tento krátký text interpretovat v kontextu tetralogie Euthyfrón – Apologie – Kritón – Faidón, nebo spolu s ranými sókratovskými dialogy, anebo v kontextu pozdních Zákonů? Třetí část ukazuje obdobné obtíže při stanovení hlavního tématu dialogu: badatelé se dělí na zastánce dialogické první půle (Kritón-Sókratés) a na ty, kteří zdůrazňují dogmatickou druhou polovinu (Sókratés-Zákony). Ve čtvrté části autor nabízí jako možné kritérium svou metodu atemporální periodizace, tj. dělení dialogů do šesti skupin na základě shodné literární formy. V páté části Boháček provádí formální analýzu, tj. podrobný výzkum textu dialogu z hlediska formálních znaků, typických pro jednotlivé skupiny. V závěru autor konstatuje, že dialog Kritón po formální stránce neodpovídá přesně žádné typické skupině a je tedy v rámci platónského korpusu solitérním textem - v tomto ohledu Boháček nachází hlubokou souvislost s postavou Kritóna, která rovněž nemá žádnou paralelu v jiném Sókratově partnerovi. Právě zvláštnost vztahu Sókratés-Kritón je podle Boháčka jádrem dialogu.

In the introductory part of the chapter, Kryštof Boháček subscribes to textual evidence as a methodological base of Platonic interpretation. The second part presents the problems associated with the contextual determination of the dialogue: should we interpret this short text in the context of the tetralogy Euthyphro - Apology - Crito - Phaedo, or along with the “early socratic dialogues”, or in the context of the late Laws? The third part shows similar difficulties in determining the core of the dialogue: researchers are divided into supporters of the dialogical first half (Kritón-Socrates) and those who emphasize the dogmatic second half (Socrates-Laws). In the fourth part of the chapter, the author offers a possible criterion: his method of “atemporal periodization”, ie the division of dialogues into six groups based on equal literary form. The fifth part performs a “formal analysis“, ie a detailed research of the text of the dialogue in terms of formal features typical of the groups. In conclusion, the author states that the dialogue Crito formally does not correspond exactly to any typical group and therefore it semmes to be a solitary text within the Platonic corpus. In this respect, Boháček finds a deep connection with the main character, who also has no parallel in another Socrates’ partner. According to Boháček, the peculiarity of the Socrates Crito friendship is the core of the dialogue.
