The paper discusses the dilemmas faced in the conservation of place names as cultural heritage. I also present a methodology for the conservation of place names as cultural heritage that we created to help state administration, municipalities, museums, businesses, developers, schools, and nature conservationists to identify the heritage value of names and promote their conservation in their operations and projects.
