V době Stoleté války a husitské revoluce Francie byla rozdělena ve tři mocenské zóny, z nichž všechny zaujaly nepřátelské postoje k českému reformnímu hnutí vedenému Janem Husem a k jeho revolučnímu vyústění. Olivier Marin rozčlenil svoji knihu „La patience ou le zèle. Les Français devant le hussitisme“ (Paris 2020) do tří částí. První se zabývá politicko-mocenskými poměry, druhá pojednává o doktrinálních rozepřích a metodách argumentace. Vlastní recepce husitismu ve Francii přichází na řadu až ve třetí kapitole. Marinovu knihu lze přiřadit k nejvýznamnějším zahraničním dílům o husitství, díky němuž je zřejmé, že šlo o dějinnou událost přesahující lokální dějiny.

At the time of the Hundred Years’ War and the Hussite Revolution, France was divided into three power zones. All three parties took hostile positions in relation to the Czech reform movement led by Jan Hus and the subsequent revolutionary upheavals. Olivier Marin divided his work “La patience ou le zèle. Les Français devant le hussitisme“ (Paris 2020) into three parts. The first is mainly of a diplomatic-political nature, the second part focuses on doctrinal contradictions and the method of argumentation. It is only in the final third section that the reception of the Hussites in France comes into play. Without reservations, it is possible to place this monograph by Olivier Marin among the most valuable works of foreign authors dealing with Hussitism. Moreover, thanks to this revealing book, it has again become clear that Hussitism was not just a matter of the Czech lands or the neighbouring lands.
