Příspěvek nás přivádí na samý konec tématu bastionových pevností, do doby, kdy už byly jejich zdi bourány. Na příkladu Hradce Králové sleduje vztah jeho obyvatel k vlastnímu opevnění a jak se tento vztah pomalu měnil v průběhu procesu likvidace hradeb. Autoři popisují pozoruhodnou transformaci tohoto vztahu, od euforie z demolice „okovů na zdi“ dusících život ve městě až po pozdější nostalgickou vzpomínku na zmizelou scenérii hradeb, které by se mohly alespoň částečně zachovat pro budoucnost generace.

The Paper brings us to the very end of the topic of bastion fortresses, to the time when their walls were already being demolished. Using the example of Hradec Králové, it follows the relationship of its population to the fortification itself, and how this relationship slowly changed during the process of the liquidation of the massive ramparts. It presents a remarkable transformation, from the euphoria over the demolition of the „wall shackles“ suffocating life in the city to the later nostalgic recollection of the vanished scenery of the fortress walls, which could have been preserved, at least in part, for future generations.
