Studie se zabývá problematikou formování raně středověké šlechty. Zatímco v diskurzu převažující model považuje likvidaci kmenové aristokracie za nezbytnou podmínku vzniku státu, studie zdůrazňuje prvky kontinuity a spoluúčast tradičních rodů na utváření státní ideologie i státního aparátu. Zvláštní pozornost je věnována vizuální reprezentaci a struktuře šlechtických příbuzenských uskupení, tzv. klanů. Zabývá se zároveň problematikou rozpadu klanů a relikty klanové struktury v pozdním středověku.

This study focuses on the formation of the early-medieval nobility. While the predominant model of the discourse considers the liquidation of the tribal aristocracy as an essential precondition for the emergence of the state, this study highlights elements of continuity and the cooperation of traditional tribes in the creation of the state’s ideology and apparatus. Special attention is given to the visual representation and structure of the aristocratic family groups – the so-called clans. At the same time, it examines the collapse of the clans and the remnants of the clan structure in the Late Middle Ages.
