Text je recenzní studií knihy The Concept in Crisis. Reading Capital Today. Zaměřuje se na analýzu althusserovských pojmů v příspěvcích jednotlivých spoluautorů knihy, která se zabývá aktuálností Althusserova přístupu pro současné společenské vědy. Studie tak postupně rozebírá Badiouvu analýzu Althusserova pojmu „teoretické praxe“ a problematické aspekty, které z toho pojetí vyplývají, věnuje se rozboru symptomálního čtení (u Roberta. J. C. Younga, Emily Apter) a možnosti aplikace tohoto pojmu na ekonomickou analýzu (u Nicka Nesbitta), zkoumá Balibarovo srovnání Althusserovy interpretace Marxe s italským operaismem, Bosteelsovu analýzu konceptu nerovnoměrného vývoje, koncepci imanentní a absentní kauzality u Warena Montaga či otázky sociální reprodukce u Niny Power.

The text is a review study of the book The Concept in Crisis. Reading Capital Today. It focuses on an analysis of Athusserian concepts in contributions by the individual co-authors of the book, which reflects upon the topicality of Althusser’s approach for the contemporary social sciences. The study progressively deals with Badiou’s analysis of Althusser’s concept of “theoretical practice” and the problematic aspects that ensue from this conception, it then focuses on a study of symptomatic reading (in the contributions by Robert J. C. Young and Emily Apter) and the possibility of applying this concept in an economic analysis (Nick Nesbitt), it examines Balibar’s comparison of Althusser’s interpretation of Marx with Italian operaismo, Bosteels’ analysis of the concept of uneven development, the conception of immanent and absent causality in the contribution by Warren Montag or issues of social reproduction examined by Nina Power.
