Ve sbírkách Oblastní galerie Liberec je osm kartonů od Josefa Führicha (1800-1876), které představují personifikace Živlů a jeden medailon s cherubem. Kresby byly určeny jako předlohy pro výzdobu novostavby katolického kostela ve čtvrti Altlerchenfeld ve Vídni svěřené v letech 1854-1860 Führichovi. Text analyzuje jejich ikonografii a zkoumá okolnosti, kdy se tyto kartóny dostaly do Liberce. Führich je věnoval v roce 1875 u příležitosti své výstavy do sbírek vznikajícího uměleckoprůmyslového muzea. Nově vznikající instituce tak v aktuálních kulturně-politických souvislostech zhodnotila nadregionální význam díla slavného rodáka i místních uměleckých tradic.

The collections of the Liberec Regional Gallery contain eight cartons by Joseph Führich (1800-1876) with personifications of the Elements. The drawings were created as templates for the decoration of the new Catholic church in Vienna-Altlerchenfeld, entrusted to Führich between 1854-1860. The text analyzes their iconography and examines the circumstances of their acquisition in Liberec. Their were donated by Führich himself to the collection of the emerging Museum of Applied Arts on the occasion of his own exhibition in 1875. The new institution used the supraregional signifikance of the work of the famous natice artist and of local artistic traditions in the current cultural and political context.
