This article follows on the basis of previously unpublished drawings, the efforts of the architect Pietro Nobile (1776–1854) to implement Neoclassical plans for the Königswart (Kynžvart) chateau. For the first time attention is drawn to a previously unknown experiment with cast-iron and zinc architectural prefabricated parts used for the buildings of the Königswart residence (1832). In this context, the author also understands the newly discovered album of Nobile’s drawings for teaching architecture in Vienna Systematische Studien über das Schöne und Charakteristische in der Civil-Architektur (ca 1837) not only as the traditional handbook, but also as a tool in the era of cast-iron prefabricated elements (columns, capitals, corbels, cornices).
