In the present fundamental paper, the stability, extraction mechanism, and applicability of bis(2-ethylhexyl) phosphate for highly polar bases was investigated in more details. The purpose of this investigation was to improve the theoretical understanding and experimental performance with bis(2-ethylhexyl) phosphate as ion carrier.
