The article is devoted to the dramatic creation of a remarkable personality of the gifted Czech writer, poet, dramatist and polyhistorist Johann Christian Alois Mickl of the first half of the 18th century. His dramatic production is bilingual and draws on two inspirational sources - the Latin part of his works is based on the Jesuit school plays, and German one is an imitation of the production of professional touring theater companies with their Hanswurst “Hauptaktions” in Prague. Mickl’s dramatic work as a whole is the fruit of an independent author’s effort within his own extensive artistic context. This artistic aspect of his work will be dealt with in the second part of the article.
