Antika bývá vnímána jako doba velkých vypravěčů a pozorných posluchačů. Pojďme si připomenout, že Řekové a Římané byli také milovníci podívaných všeho druhu: svátečních průvodů, opulentních divadelních představení, teatralizovaných sportovních utkání a mnohých dalších. I v běžném životě se obklopovali uměním, ať už to byly sochy a reliéfy, které zdobily fasády veřejných budov nebo fresky na stěnách soukromých vil. Tyto “obrazy” byly jedním z pramenů, z nichž čerpala příběhy antická literatura a také divadlo. Nemalá pozornost byla na LŠKS věnována i všem podobám vizuálního odkazu antiky v pozdější evropské kultuře až do současnosti.

Classical Antiquity has been perceived as a time of great narrators and attentive listeners. The summer course, however, reminded the participants of the fact that the Greeks and Romans were also lovers of spectacles of all kinds: festivals, opulent theater performances, theatralized sports contests and many more. Even in everyday life they were surrounded by art, whether by sculptures and reliefs that adorned the facades of public buildings or frescoes on the walls of private villas. These pictures were also one of the sources for the stories of ancient literature and theatre. Considerable attention was paid to all forms of visual legacy of antiquity in later European culture up to the present.
