Příspěvek se zaměřuje na postoje autorů v 16. až 18. století na smích a pokouší se ilustrovat dobový názor na zábavu a její místo v myšlení tehdejšího člověka, ústící v tenzi mezi její zastánce a kritiky. Tlak na morálku měl důsledky na genologickou strukturu dobové české literatury i na mravní sebekontrolu. Koncem 18. století se tato situace začíná měnit, podoba této transformace je zaznamenatelná opět v úpravě genologického systému a v rámcových částech děl z 90. let 18. století. Příspěvek také dokumentuje vývoj pohledu kulturní historie na tento vývoj. Samotné hodnocení komického je totiž součástí procesu vývoje vkusu a vytěsňování nízké komiky na kulturní periferii.

The paper focuses on the authors’ attitudes in the 16th to 18th centuries on laughter and attempts to illustrate the contemporary view of entertainment and its place in the thinking of the then man, resulting in tension between its proponents and critics. The pressure on morality had consequences on the genological structure of contemporary Czech literature and on moral self-control. By the end of the 18th century, this situation began to change, the form of this change is noticeable again in the change of the genological system and in the framework parts of works from the 1890s. The paper also documents the development of the cultural history view of this process. The evaluation of comic itself is part of the process of changing taste and crowding out low comics on the cultural periphery.
