The reaction of N-linked glycans containing N-acetylglucosamine in their molecule with (2-aminoethyl)trimethylammonium chloride (AETMA) is connected with the multiple product formation. Amide and two zwitterionic stationary phases (a sulfobetaine- and a phosphorylcholine-type) were evaluated for the successful separation of AETMA and reaction product/products.
