We show results on the fabrication of diamond films for life science and environmental uses. The examples include i) nanodiamond-coated PTFE polymer foils used for the cultivation of primary human osteoblasts, ii) diamond-coated metal bone implants into rabbit femurs, and iii) diamond layers for electronic detection of molecules. At first, we compare PTFE modified with DC argon plasma with PTFE coated with hydrogenated or oxidized DNPs (mean size 5 nm). The goal is achieving an improved body acceptance of the bio‐ inert pristine material. Next we will show the utilization of diamond thin films as a functional material for gas sensing. The NO2 gas-sensing properties of the hydrogenated diamond sensor with an IDT electrodes were investigated either i) at three operation temperatures (25, 50 and 80°C) and constant NO2 concentration (50 ppm) or ii) at three NO2 concentrations (12.5, 25 and 50 ppm) and constant temperature (80°C).
