The Bucaco basin is a Pennsylvanian continental basin located in the Tomar-Ferreira do Antelejo shear zone, (PTSZ) which separates zhe Iberian Variscan fold belt in central western Portugal. Three sections were sampled for palynology. Preserved assemblages were dominated by Triquitrites sp. and Densosporites sp. Other common taxa like Dictyotriletes, Florinites and Potonieisporites, Lantensina-Cordaitina spp. and Potonieisporites novicus represent the typical peatland microflora and indicate the late Stephanian (Gzhelian) age.
