Nuclear Myosin 1 (NM1) belongs to the group of class I myosins, which are monomeric, non-processive, low duty-ratio motor proteins transforming free chemical energy stored in ATP into the mechanical power. There is increasing evidence of specific nuclear functions of several myosin classes. However, the relationship between different myosin isoforms and species is not well described. Moreover, understanding of myosin dynamics on plasma membrane could bring new insights into the cancer research and theraphy.
