Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) – showed the presence of virus spheroids and of spindles free in the cytoplasm of midgut epithelial cells and occluded together with virus particles into the spheroids of Ips typographus.
Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) – showed the whole structure of the spheroids and clarified some of the structures of the virus free inclusions mentioned in formed TEM investigations.
