Intranasal delivery of E. coli O83 suppressed allergic airway inflammation in mice in both prophylactic and therapeutic settings. Mechanistically, the suppressive effect was dependent on signaling through TLR4 and was associated with increased numbers of pulmonary IL-17A+ IFN-γ+TCRγδ+T cells.
