Numerical modelling of the vocal folds (VF) pathologies can be realized by varying properties of VF layers. The aim of this paper is to show how layer properties affect vowel production in the finite element (FE) model of VF self-sustained oscillation with fluid-structure-acoustic interaction (FSAI). Fluid flow coupled with structure domain are solved separately in program system ANSYS 15.0. The FE model featuring several phenomena present during human phonation: compressible unsteady viscous flow modelled by Navier-Stokes equations, setting to a phonatory position and large deformations of the VF, air flow interruption during. VF closure, excitation by lung pressure and transient effects. The fluid mesh is deformed according to VF motion using of Arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian algorithm. Aforementioned phenomena combined with changing properties of VF layers could reveal unknown mechanisms occurring during phonation of pathologic VF.
